Welcome to the Salt and Petals Journal. Through this portal I will share the research and knowledge I have learnt from my years as a Beauty Therapist. My aim is to help you better understand how to effectively treat your skin conditions, and how taking a holistic approach to skin health can provide corrective results to not only the skin but the body’s wellbeing.

Where It All Began: The Skincare Market

Unfortunately there isn’t much knowledge and information given to us about how to properly treat our skin conditions. Instead, the marketing bandwagon and false labelling is what grabs our attention and ultimately influences what we are using on our skin.

I believe when it comes to your skin, keep it real and keep it simple. I love effective, non-toxic products that target your skin type, and ingredients that address your skin conditions. My love for treating skin concerns comes from my own troubles of having a dry/combination skin type as well as acne blemishes, dehydration and hormonal pigmentation called Melasma.

It is through Salt and Petals that I wish to educate about simple, effective, toxin-free products and their benefits for the skin, with regular guides and reviews.

Why I Chose Salt

When I go out into the ocean and dive into the water, I feel a cleansing sensation which leaves me truly refreshed. Our bodies contain the same concentration of minerals and nutrients as the ocean, so it’s no wonder that sea salt is a natural ally that can balance, protect and restore the skin and body. We can achieve this cleansing sensation from implementing salt into our regular skincare routine.

Salt can treat skin concerns and conditions with it’s never-ending list of benefits; it is:

  • antiseptic,
  • detoxifying
  • preserving
  • cleansing
  • healing

Salt can dry things out but also help to lock moisture in. Salt is the be-all-and-end-all.

Why I Chose Petals

Even if you’re not a run-of-the-mill girly-girl, everyone loves flowers and the immediate effect they have on your senses. They can not only complete your decor in a vase, or be the perfect accompaniment for a bride as she ventures down the aisle, but they also have amazing healing properties on your skin. Flowers have been used throughout the ages for their healing powers, such as by the ancient Romans and Greeks.
